Hi All! I would have liked to have updated the blog sooner, but it didn't happen so now you are getting two posts for the price of one! What a deal!
STUDIO MOVIE NIGHT
October 13th was a studio movie night where students came with Catrina Skull makeup to watch Pixar's Coco whose music is internationally praised for its ability to evoke powerful emotions, showcase the diversity of Mexican music, and add cultural richness to the storyline.
As usual, the evening ended with the traditional "jumping through the air and landing on the giant bean bag until parents arrive" activity that seems to always make its way onto the agenda unofficially and without prompt.
COSTUME/OUTREACH/AWARDS SOIREE
November 4th was a special performance evening for all! Students dressed in their Halloween costumes and performed spooky pieces for the residents at Cypress Place Senior Living.
It was little Olivia Von Herzen's very first performance! Although you might have thought she was Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin, five-year-old Olivia did a great job showcasing what she has learned in just three months of lessons. She's a hard-working, diligent practicer and is making great progress. Way to go, Olivia!
Several students were recognized for their hard work and awards that they earned this year including trophies and medals for outstanding achievements in piano.
The residents couldn't thank the studio enough for coming to share the talent of its members. They not only mentioned how much they enjoyed the music but also how impressed they were with how well-behaved and polite all the students were. Many recalled that we had come last December to play Christmas music and requested that we please come perform for them again soon.
Thank you so much to Shahida Rice (Marek and Cami's mom) for sending me a photo showing off Cami and Marek's gold and silver medals (respectively) for having learned the most and second most piano pieces for the year! I also appreciate that Shahida captured a quick group photo before the event started, thank you!!
Stay tuned as I'll be writing an exciting post soon about the results from our recent Holiday Festival!
Remember there are no lessons next week as the studio is closed for Thanksgiving.
